Background

Mariannelund has an exciting history in Swedish children's films. Some of our greatest and most timeless classics were created here in the region, with Emil in Lönneberga being the film most closely associated with Mariannelund. Around Mariannelund there are lots of filming locations and the area is home to a cultural treasure that is now brought to light.

Småland Film Village is the result of many years of work and Småland persistence. The project was started in 2010 by Anna Mellergård and the Emilkraften economic association. After that, many people get involved in what leads to what Filmbyn Småland is today.

The vision is to, in addition to becoming an international visitor destination, also become a natural meeting place in the village. The film village is open during school holidays and the summer season, and the aim is to arrange conferences, meetings, seminars and educational activities in the house in the woods.

The Filmbyn Småland museum has been realized thanks to support from Eksjö Municipality, Region Jönköping County, the Postal Code Lottery Cultural Foundation, the County Administrative Board in Jönköping County, Astrid Lindgren's Hometown, Emilkraften and a number of private individuals who have joined as shareholders. Filmbyn Småland has a cooperation agreement with Astrid Lindgren AB and with SF Studios.

Welcome to Mariannelund!

Filmbyn Småland, through the company Snickerboa Mariannelund AB, has applied for and been granted support from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development for a customer counter, pastry counter and installation of a kitchen with equipment.

Filmbyn Småland collaborates with companies and associations in the area. Cykla i Filmlandskapet Småland, which organizes guided bike tours starting from Filmbyn, is a tourism company that was started in connection with Filmbyn Småland. In 2022 Cykla i Filmlandskapet won the Great Tourism Award in Jönköping County
