Sustainability & cooperation

FILMBYN SMÅLAND has its focus on the local and locally produced. We prefer to do business with local companies when we purchase, maintain, build new or repair our facility. Our work is based on Astrid Lindgren's writing and films. Their message and content are the starting point in everything we do. The children's perspective is everywhere.

Restaurant SKOGEN cooks food from scratch using ingredients from the local area. We buy raw materials from, among others, Stjernbergs bakery, Axelssons in ABY, Norrby ängar, Pork from happy pigs, etc. The cheesecakes we serve are baked by Inger Nilsson at Emarp, who uses milk from a farmer in the area. Our drinks come from the local brewery ÅBRO in Vimmerby. We collaborate with Stjernberg's pantry in Mariannelund, which really works with local food and has its own bakery. All dairy products are lactose-free and we always have gluten-free options and vegetarian dishes on our menu.

The goods in our store comes from local companies and we strive for high quality goods. We sell books by local authors such as Sara Schwardt, Mattias Eliasson and Christian Holzer. We sell handicrafts from local artists such as Nathalie Fjäll. Rag to Rag is a cooperative that works with social sustainability and we sell their goods in our store.

When we clean so we use as few chemicals as possible and for us it goes without saying that we choose eco-labelled products in all contexts. With good equipment. technology and knowledge, we minimize our environmental impact.

We are hiring seasonal staff from Mariannelundsbygden so that we benefit the local economy.

We collaborate with associations and the EMIL power to jointly develop the place where we operate.

FILM VILLAGE TOGETHER is an investment that the LEADER area ASTRID LINDGRENS HEMBYGD co-finances. Within that project, we will gather local youth to develop in harmony with the next generation. We will also gather other hospitality companies to become even stronger together.

We collaborate with Småland Tourism, Region Jönköping, Region Kalmar, Swedish Welcome and the local tourist offices. We are part of a network with actors such as Astrid Lindgren's World, Astrid Lindgren's Näs, Emil's Katthult, Bullerbyn – The Noisy Village and "Cycling in the Movie Landscape of Småland" which manages and develops Astrid Lindgren's legacy in Småland.
